Member organisations sit between the national umbrella and the individual treatment centres. You are responsible for the centres in your area — but you are not the data controller for their patients. Each centre controls its own patient data. You see only what is necessary for regional oversight.

Your centres' patient data
is never shared — even with you.
This is the most important thing to understand about the Sobriety Journey data architecture: patient data belongs to the admitting centre, not to the member organisation above it.
Centre-Level Data Ownership
Each treatment centre controls its own patient records. No query from a member organisation account can ever return individual patient data from a centre. This is enforced at the database level — not a configuration that can be changed.
Anonymised Aggregation Only
What member organisations see is always anonymised aggregate data — counts, rates, and trends. Never names, never contact details, never clinical notes. The same data you would submit to DSD.
POPIA Basis
Under POPIA, patient data is processed under Section 11 (purpose limitation) — data belongs to the admitting centre for treatment purposes. Member organisations access only what is necessary for their accountability function under Section 8.
